SERVICE LIFE.

Dirt deposits and spent oil additives reduce the service life of air oil separators. Higher oil flow can lead to fouling accumulating in air oil separators. Proper oil maintenance is needed for the best air oil separator service life. Service life is usually limited by solid particle deposits in the finer separation layer which results in an increase in differential pressure. Oil fouling can be reduced by maintaining oil change intervals and changing air and oil filters. Air oil separators must be changed when the final differential pressure is reached. Use of improper oils may block the air oil separator after a short period of time because of deposit build up. High temperature can also shorten oil life.

All oil should be removed during oil changes to prevent damage which may be caused by contaminated residual oil. To get the maximum benefit from synthetic oil any existing mineral oil residues need to be completely removed. Dispose of used oil properly and store new oil in a clean and secure are to prevent possible contamination.

OIL CONSUMPTION

Blockage in the air oil separator drainage system can lead to accumulation of oil on the dry side. Overfilling can lead to oil foaming in the air oil separator. Oil consumption rate can also increase from oversetting air oil separators.
